Since 2022, the e-commerce and Cloud services giant has been participating in Cannes Lions. It occupies part of the Cannes port: the “Amazon PORT” experience was created.
This space covers over 2,500 square meters on the Pantiero. It includes several zones: conference areas, private spaces, and a stage. The stage hosts concerts, shows, and performances.
The area also offers leisure zones dedicated to wellness sessions. Additionally, a docked yacht hosts VIP guests.
The challenge
For its first participation in Cannes Lions, Amazon was looking for a reliable host and hostess agency based in Cannes. They desired close collaboration and a long-term relationship. They also needed solid expertise, and personalized support was essential to define their staffing needs.
Amazon chose the Agence Bonjour. We recruited hosts and hostesses for the Cannes Lions festival with the goal of working together on the project. We also helped identify the most relevant job profiles.
The booth comprised several areas and activities. There was a high demand for versatile, bilingual English-speaking hosts and hostesses. These diverse skills were a real challenge.
Our solution
The project with Amazon was launched six months before Cannes Lions. Our client presented an overall plan, and we provided our expertise from the very beginning.
We calculated the number of hosts and hostesses needed for Cannes Lions. In total, more than 100 people were recruited. We then defined the roles based on the different areas: registration, guest guidance, badge scannning, meeting room management, VIP reception, etc.
Event staff planning was crucial. We organized schedules, rotations, replacements, and rest days. Our knowledge of the Cannes business environment was also an added value for Amazon.
To reinforce the team, we mobilized 15 production assistants. They worked before, during, and after the event—handling purchases, scheduling meetings with local providers, and assembling Ikea furniture.
Finally, for wellness sessions dedicated to Amazon guests, our agency provided a yoga instructor, a Tai Chi specialist, and a sound bath practitioner.
The team was present daily, continuously. Our goal was to ensure team coordination and manage break times. A Team Leader was always on-site to oversee the smooth running of the event.
Conclusion
The booth welcomed a high number of visitors and was a great success. The festival organizers appreciated the quality of the event staff. Our team of hosts and hostesses at Cannes Lions was particularly noteworthy.
Thanks to Amazon’s welcoming approach and the flexibility of our hosts and hostesses, our staff integrated seamlessly with the American team. We thus provided a responsive and operational reception service.
This booth was the largest at this year’s Cannes Lions. The operation was a true success. Our client has decided to repeat the experience for the next edition.
